As some of you know, I have been playing in games 2,3 and 6 lately. You might also have noticed I haven't been very active in the games, this has been due to personal circumstances I'm afraid.

I'll not bore you with the personal circumstances (I've already bored Richard with them) but as a result of them I need to cut back on various aspects of my life and as part of this I am going to have to drop out of 2 games-after a long hard thought I have decided to leave games 2 and 3. I will remain ...

Thought i would start a new topic off, as i am thinking which is better. Is it better to have Stores, in a town. Or a magazine? Will the stores last as long as the magazine? Will twelve stores, last a year? I have not been involved in a battle as of yet, so i am not sure of the answer. Obviously stores are better with an army, as supply routes cannot be cut off. Do the stores last as long as they should? How long does the magazine last? Am i right in saying that Muskets, are not ...

I've had a few PC problems this week(serves me right for upgrading to Vista! )and my email was on and off and I accidently deleted a load without reading them.

As I've not received my turn back for Game 7 I'm a bit worried it may have arrived but got dumped along with the rest of the mail.

Or are we still waiting for the turn?

Cheers.

Based on a comment by JamesBond007 (about wanting to play England) and some occasional musings of my own, are there any nations you have an interest in playing but haven't yet? If so, any reasons?

For myself

1) The Pope/Papal States. Just sounds interesting and different. It could be interesting to play a bit of a militant pope, one who secretly yearns to reunite all Christians or re-establish the Roman Empire

2) The Asanti or another African nation. We're still before the Scramble ...

Greetings. I have been thinking about the make up of the army. Any ideas about what works best in game terms? Do Ambulance sections, workshops, hospitals really work. They seem a big expense if a typical agema army is sick listed to three, after 3 or 4 turns. On this basis, it would make sense for armys to be around 30 units strong, wouldnt it? As most battles dureing that time, proved inconclusive, why bother with such big armys. They just go inactive quick. Smaller in size, but larger in number. ...

I was involved for a small period of time, but when I got the chance to take on England in one of the others I dropped it. To be honest, I have thought about the idea of taking it back up.

Hi all.

My rulebook arrived today(well 10 mins ago)and I need some advice of which game to join.I won't give a list of vacant positions as it may give some players an unfair advantage to know which positions aren't player controlled!

Anyway the games are:2,3,6 and 7.

There is a position in game 6,but it may be a bit to big for me to handle at first.Any advice on which game would suit a new boy?

Also not sure on whether to play by PBM or PBeM.

My problem is that due to a disability(Kingmaker ...

Today, I thought that I would speak a little about making the simulation a bit more interesting, a little addition of what I call the "Humanity Factor"! A good example of this factor (in my opinion) is the interaction between Count von Piper and Queen Ulrica Eleanor, specifically their love affair and following marriage! There is plenty of diplomacy, trade and war, but, absolutely none of the "Humanity Factor"! You can, for example, spice up the ...

In your opinion, given your experience with LGDR......How long should a participant wait (after taking over as a new player) before commencing active hostilities with another nation/kingdom?? Would you consider waiting 2 months (in-game time)too soon? Or mayhap 6 months (in-game time) too soon? I would personally consider waiting at least a year (in-game time), so as to consolidate my position and build-up my resources!

In one of my games I play the King of England. I notice that I don't have a Royal Governor in all my colonial holdings in North America and was under the impression that if city did not exist on the report then nothing had been done there. I believe this to be the wrong idea now so I am curious as to what would be correct here. Should I place royal governors in each of the colonies that England did indeed hold in 1700? Should I ask a minister for advise on this?

Thanks,

-What does the does the number of farmers, administrators and men of Munster means? Is it the number of available persons of that profession without a job or the number of “active” farmers etc.?
