    Game 2 Empty Game 2

    Post by count-de-monet Sat Oct 04, 2008 1:53 pm

I have been involved in both Games 6 and 7 since the start, but recently joined Game 2

If any forum members are in Game 2 would they like to give a recent update on the game's events ?

My position is in quite a mess, so if any players are in Game 2, doing well, and having paternal instincts please let me know !! Very Happy

I am in game 2 and believe that things are going quite well at the moment. I will contact you through PM to give you a few more details, but all majors are at peace with each other and a few wars are going on in the world with natives and majors.

thanks for the update. My first newspaper helped throw some light on current events.

I dont think I am going against the spirit of the game by revealing here, that I am a non-European "power".

Just an update on this game (I play in it) for those interested.
As of 7th December 2008 (real life) the game turn to be posted back upon the 3rd of January 2009 is the February 1735 (LGDR/TGOK) turn.

& there is a new player, just joined, to play with/against the good players already involved.

France, Spain, England, Prussia, the UDP... they couldn't reach an agreement on a small matter, so what chance is their on the Flemish/Flanders question.

The war will be going on for quite some time yet. Even if its goes cold & used just for boosting honour scores.

'T'is a foreign concept my friend. No, there's no profit in peace as the band of traveling minstrels called 'Ocean Colour Scene' sing about.'

I do believe that the Lion is about to roar in the North. The matter at hand will be settled shortly and all can return to peace and harmony (such as that is possible).

My trade vessels have never been targeted. Arrange an agreement with them - it will cost you probably, but in the long run the high annual income will justify the expenditure of protection money/buying them off.
The French had problems in the CAribbean around 1729 in-game at St.Croix. There was some funny happenings when Blackbeard built his own little fort on the Island there & the French then couldn't find it to destroy it (as I said before I've been going through all my old newspapers).

You guessed correctly... Being able to get something done and then having the ability to react against it when it is not fulfilled is a good target.

While in Game 3 the pirates have been successfully rooted out of the WI and hung/ killed by a joint venture by 3 or 4 nations......

Now they are about to deal with the Barbary Pirates Twisted Evil

Post by ginger Fri Dec 12, 2008 6:07 pm

I've employed the treacherous devils in past games as mercenaries, or had them work under a letter of marque - don't let your witch hunt become bogged down by the law courts as it turns out that your country has in fact given them legal rights to buccaneer.

Insurances against one state persecuting legal pirating by the use of an agreement between the corsairs & another state could prove tricky & effect honour scores should it turn out that you are actually attacking an allies partner who are attempting to reduce a mutual enemy to ruin.

Lawyers rule the world really. Oh, & bankers too. If its profitable for a pirates partner to issue a letter of marque you might come to find you wont be popular should you then attempt to hamper the pirates work.
Yes, going from the newspaper recently Blackbeard has murdered a Spaniard, but are the crews of his vessels guilty of this crime also. They may in fact be only doing their job which they are being contracted out to do. Have they ever commited a crime of piracy. If not can they be charged as such? Then again why would the law worry about a little thing like that.

These are some of my views on the matter, having read the newspaper in-game.

The pirate positions in LGDR/TGOK could be over very quick possibly should you try to attack everybody, or even just one target I would imagine. How many vessels could Blackbeard have historically? Pit this few against the might of the either the Spanish, the English or the French navies. The pirates haven't got a chance in the short term if they proove too much a nuisance. I was watching the Soprano's season 2 the other night & they said you have to bleed a victim over a long period of time. Not in one session. Prolong the source of your income & have contingency plans for most possible eventualities.

I have had allies to do this, but I have not taken them into my employ so to speak. It might be something that is coming down the road, but at present they are not in my basket. I am certain that it is a very interesting position to play and would love to know the details of the position and what is involved in it. Sure is an interesting world that Richard has built.

I suppose that the general popular opinion by merchants, bankers & even the average law abiding citizen would love you however, should your navies go after the pirates. (I just thought of this)

Even putting up a sham pursuit of the pirates, fighting "mock" battles with them, would allow for honour to rise possibly as it would be seen by the ignorant that you are tackling the global problem. Hmm. interesting : study

I don't want any reader to think I was trying to teach people to suck eggs earlier - meaning trying to teach something they already knew. I would in fact be the last person to advise others in the games.
