I know it varies, but does anybody have an general comments on what typical trade investment returns are? I have a lot more options starting out here than I did with my game 3 papal states pickup and I'd like to try to optimize my economy a bit more :-)

I don't think there is a formula for investment returns, it probably centres on long term returns. I tend to do the obvious and look at the strengths of the nation historically and build on them.

I suspect a five year view is required, no futures speculation here...an Agema version of the AIM market now there's an idea...or perhaps that was the South Sea bubble!

Yes, I just have no clue, because I don't have game years of experience to pull from, about what the 5 year return generic return on investments might be. 5? 10? 15? 20? My wild guess would be mid to low teens, but just don't know. And of course, I"m only talking about generic trade investments. I think others have diffierent risk profiles and different returns.

5 year plans are good but remember many things can change trade profit. A nice little war of the Spanish succession will not do wonders for the european and med trade will they lol!

You cruel man. You sound as if you want war. But you are on the Ottomen side, and looking to take on and rival the great Catholic forces.

The war is not on the ss as such. It would be over towns. Sometimes France gains or Austria gain Spanish towns. The Spanish Netherlands, for France, and Milan for Austria.More towns, more money and recruits availiable. This is the real issue. England can not afford for France to get any stronger. So they have a big interest. The whole of Europe in fact, will not want a stronger France. They are too powerful already. So Spain has a big responsibility early on. It is even possible, that Spain can get virtually wiped out early on. Spain has to make a choice. Do they want France or Austria as allies. It is hard for them to stay neutral.
