For anybody who has actually implemented this, can you talk about what the actual game effect is?

It seemed to help my economy more than anything else.

Certain areas of specific investment may have been helped too.

I can't say for sure whether anything else happened as I was overheating the economy at the time.

Thanks! I'm implementing it in game 3, and contemplating putting it into my build queue for game 8.

When you say it helped your economy, did it drive up your tax revenues? Or just improve your economy score?

More the economic score I think.

Being Scotland at the time in Game 1 under King James we shared the pound with England so it was difficult for me to effect any currency exchange rates - not that I know whether this is possible. Unfortunately I had to leave due to finances just as things were getting interesting with France!

The cheaper food had a knock on effect of making life easier for my fellow countrymen. This strengthened the economy but may have caused a reduction in trade tax revenue as Scottish products became a relatively more expensive. This would depend on Richard going this far in the economics of trade.
