    Dissolving Academies Empty Dissolving Academies

Post by The Revenant Wed Feb 29, 2012 11:56 am

I am on the point of doing away with an Academy of Administration, on the grounds that, having trained-up enough Administrators it is now just a drain on upkeep. However, I had a moment's panic - does the Academy have to stay in being (albeit without students) in order to support the improvement that the trained Administrators bring? I came to this doubt through thinking about a real-world view of things - that the trained Administrators would, over the years, die off and need to be replaced. Are those notional replacements thought of as coming from the Academy continuing to exist, or are the Administrators thought of as training-up their own clerks/replacements? Or is all this just too subtle for the game mechanics? (That may sound rather muddled. The bottom line is, can I do away with the Academy and yet indefinitely retain the benefits of having my full quota of trained Administrators?)

\once you hae trained up the personnel you could close it as there is no need, the buolding would just be shut or sold etc. In the future you may require more administrators as every 10 years population increases and thus more administrators may be needed.

It is your call at the end of the day

ah, I didn't know that about population increase - thanks (I guess 5 years of closure buys a re-opening, but it's a close call)

Does closing an academy effect your honour score? May sound a silly question but when I first played Glory a long-standing player did tell me that he had a number of academies that were effectively redundant but he kept them going as it improved his honour score.

I have no reason to believe closing academies affects honour. I closed a number in one of the games and it had no effect.

I have noticed prestige buildings like palaces and cathedrals do bump honour though.
