I note that in the forum we all have a reputation rating. What's that all about?

Re: Reputation
There is a +/- in the top right corner of all forum posts. So you can "like" or "dislike" a post, increasing or decreasing the reputation of the author.

Re: Reputation
My suggestion is to ignore it. It isn't useful and may have more to do with whether you've said things that people who play in games with you approve or disapprove of.

Re: Reputation
I must admit I ignore it...though have added to others reputation at times, however that is usually because I have treated the reputation option as a bit like the 'like' option on Facebook when someone makes a comment I do 'like'.

Re: Reputation
If there were just like, that would make sense, but you could also 'dislike' which I think was the problem. That turned it into a popularity contest.
I haven't seen a post on the forums that I thought ever deserved a downgrade (for me that would imply the comment was badly ahistorical, game-inappropriate or the like). Some were perhaps a bit heated, but nothing that I thought deserved a thumbs down. But maybe that's just me.

Re: Reputation
If so, then there should be no way to vote down posts.
Game 7 Louis has a negative rating mostly, I think, because people disagreed with him. Not because he wasn't contributing to the forum, or because his posts were inappropriate to the forum.
I think, in perspective, most people would agree the forum and the Game 7 debates are much richer for having him here. As a spectator I certainly think so!
