How come you get to go back to Europe so quickly? Seems half a life-time since Tom B crossed the Atlantic by mistake, and still nowhere near getting back home... (Still, many a slip twixt ship and dock, as Tom B found out...) Good luck!

Perhaps its because Tom sails on French & English ships while Von Decken sails with expert Captains & Navigators on fast, ship shape, well handled Prussian ships ?????..............no I dont believe it either.

Perhaps Von Decken needs to check what flag his ship is flying and the nationality of the crew etc. Historically a lot of Prussian trade was carried by shipping chartered from the UDP.

Since Von Decken is sailing into a war zone I wonder how the Royal Navy will react to a Dutch Ship sailing on Brandenburg papers (part of the HRE) and carrying an infamous Protestant Merc and a load of gold? could be a interesting one for the Prize Courts to figure out.

Some of King James goals are a bit crowded but the three best cells in Edinburgh Castle are now free.

"Pet Monkey" sounds like a money spinner to me! teach it to pick pockets, steal jewels, and escape and boomerang back to you with said jewels/coin. So you make money on the sale and anything nabbed is a bonus.
what a way to kill time on those long sea journeys teaching all those tricks.

mean while back in Koingsberg in my nice new uniform the Marshall informs me I am to go to Berlin the Foreign Minister wishes to see me!!! I also seem to be getting on famously with Lieutenant-General Friedrich Gustav von Waldersee, who seems to really like my Monkey Hans!

Meanwhile I have 2 offers of employment in the post!!!! one is definitely intriguing as it is from a surprising nation I have not had any contact with (in here or game!)

So Berlin here it comes

so there I am in my bed trying to keep warm when the door is kicked in by 2 men, one waving a pistol and calling the other "Herr Frankenstein" who calls him a dolt and they proceed to steal my beloved monkey Hans!!!

I know who you are. I don't know why you want Hans. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my monkey go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.

They left before I could say that.....

On the bright side, maybe they saw where the chaps went with your monkey?

That's if they know what one is.

I think he should ask for a clyster, as Dr John Woodward, British physician, swore by them and was well known for prescribing them as treatment to his patients. Like bed rest, a good clyster can't hurt, so I'd heartily recommend it over an evacuation. If the MO wants to fit you with a jugum, however, tell him to sling his hook!
