Well I got my turn sheet, never had so many maps before, and nothing like a grain shortage to ruin your first day in charge.

Well, from a Chinese point of view, reasonably good. Heard from a new barbarian nation that seems to understand the basic concepts of honour...ok the harvest wasn't successful but didn't fail either...all is well within the Mandate of Heaven

I think Basileus that the turn hasn't gone out yet-I took Nexus' comment to be about the turn we had just submitted (return date 11th May) rather than a 'new' turn

I think I was in too much anticipation, every time I get home in the evening the first question my wife has is "has the postman been?". A bit bad and sad on my behalf......

Ha, I would say that might be because no one knows who you are, but as a new guy send out your introductions so people can work with you.

Yeah, most people don't bother to send mail to positions they think are NPC. Richard doesn't answer them, and they just sit there until someone picks up the position.
So if you want correspondence, you have to let it be known you're a PC position.

Re: The Age of Enlightenment. Game 9.
I'm quite surprised about the religious challenge in europe between catholics and protestants. I disn't expect this to be an issue in the period.

Re: The Age of Enlightenment. Game 9.
I have to say that the latest turn was very interesting for but your first turn always is...
Very interested to see an active Portugal (aka ME!) and the fact that they are in search for a marriage for both King Pedro II and Prince Joao the future king of Portugal. The big statement from the council being that the Queen Dowager of Spain would make an excellent match for the King. But no suggestions for the young prince.
All seems set in the german states that a religious war between Protestants and Catholics is set to explode. With Munster seeking an alliance with Bavaria as a form of protection from Sweden, the Bavarian Prince is said to have been promoting an anti catholic approach.
But the new attention to a religious conflict between protestant and catholics seems set to detract the attention from the original spannish succession.

Re: The Age of Enlightenment. Game 9.
The Munster issue has more to do with Swedish and Bavarian territorial ambitions that religion, but both parties are cloaking as a straight Protestant, Catholic conflict. As France is allied to both Sweden and Bavaria things could get interesting. How the Emperor and the rest of the Reich reacts is anyone's guess.
As to the King of Portugals ambitions with the Queen Dowager, the miracle child Phillip is still King and Spain appears to be back in play.

Re: The Age of Enlightenment. Game 9.
I try to go with a bit of role playing with my game positions. So as Sweden, the Swedes are actually genuine about protecting Protestant rights in the Empire. It concerned the real King Charles XII who threatened the Emperor over protestant rights in Silesia. I find the game more fun trying to run it from a position realistic to the time and helps in gaining honour points.

Re: The Age of Enlightenment. Game 9.
I agree. I think it's more fun to have some type of character perspective for your ruler. That said, I still think the main way to get honour in the game is to spend on "useless" stuff like cathedrals.
