    Order Formats Empty Order Formats

Post by The Revenant Tue Feb 18, 2014 11:32 am

For the last couple of turns the "spending" heading on the GoK Treasury sheet has changed to "Spending Already Deducted". On my email turns I have been in the habit of more or less repeating instructions given under various geographical/structural headings under the Spending heading. Is this no longer necessary? (or was it ever?) I'm still not convinced I'm laying out my orders in the easiest format for the Gm, so any hints and tips welcomed!

I just write out number bullets for all orders.

I break them up into general orders, and military change orders, but that's it.

if any is particular to a location, I do say At XXX, Do Y. So that richard can run down the turn to that section of it for the update.

It seems to work fine for me...

Though if Richard cared to tell us what the easiest way to process things is, I'd be happy to use something else.

Thanks, King Deacon. I was hoping for more interest/contributions and am wondering whether I should have put this just in the ordinary GoK section(?) I try to put my orders in the order (!) that things come up in on the monthly report - so going down by settlements in sequence, and then Ambassadors orders, Spy orders etc. but sometimes get into contradictions with say, general assignment of recruits & finance to Trade Investments. It will be good not to have to repeat so many things for their cost, though.

Sorry Jim, only just seen this...

I've noticed the 'spending deducted' thing and have wondered at it...

As to orders, I tend to sub-divide them into
+ military orders (raising units, forming armies and navies, that sort of thing)
+ expenditure (so new academies, trade investments, banquet expenditure etc but I don't repeat military expenditure done under 'military orders')
    +movement of units
+ 'Diplomatic orders' (all the other sort of orders so new ambassadors, orders to spies, details of banquets such as guest lists and speeches, details of new academies opened)

I try not to repeat anything in my orders (more to save me getting confused, Richard tends not to but I sometimes confuse myself!), the only time I do is if I'm (for example) opening multiple academies, in that case I'll say under expenditure "£300,000 spent opening 6 academies (see diplomatic orders for details)"

I assume Richard is ok with it, the few times there have been problems with the way I lay them out I think its been more down to me being vague or confusing. About the only thing I have started doing of late that's different is when I'm playing a nation that has recruits from various sources I now always specify the nationality of the recruits being used-I had always done it if I was forming units of 'foreign' recruits but now also do it for 'native' units following a couple of misunderstandings

And thanks (yet again) King Jason. Seems like Richard is silently coping with everyone doing there own individual format! Ah well, can't go wrong..!
