Regional Prospects

Post by The Real Louis on Thu Sep 18, 2014 11:56 am

Anyone got any views on how "regions" might be defined for the deployment of Academy-Trained Prospector settlers? Presumably not the Trade "regions" (where 1,000 prospectors might cover the whole of America or Africa). Maybe the kind of "regions" that recruits can pool for (with, e.g. Canada distinct from North America)? In which case how many "regions" might there be in Africa (just North and South??)?

Hmm, guess the resounding silence after 25 "views" means no-one has any more idea than I do! Ah well. Means I'm not alone, at least.

Well in russia the Urals is considered a region as is the alps etc. I would go with that rather than trade regions.

Hmm, guess I'll be asking my in-game advisors some specific questions to try to pin this down. I'm already having trouble distinguishing the areas served by "Canadian" and "North American" recruit-pools.

Well, I've now got my "advisers" view on the matter, and it's not that helpful (surprise surprise!) "Clerks admit to not being entirely sure the meaning of what kind of regions there are in respect to mineral-working. They don't think it is an issue, but rather prospectors can be sent out in a country (for example Spain), or a specific district, for each 'around Madrid'..." (Names of countries etc. have been changed to protect the guilty.)

Ok, I think the answer was about prospector parties.

I normally think country sized when I send out prospectors. But those are just 4 people....

Um,no. That was only a partial quotation, and in response to a very specific question, so that is the rule also for "settling" those prospectors trained in a college (the main advantage being not to have to keep sending out small parties...)
