Humility and EH

Post by Deacon on Wed Mar 18, 2015 1:14 am

So I was thinking about the frustrations of your economy not doing what you wanted, so I thought I'd share a part of my journey in game 8 as Portugal. Apparently Portuguese commoners do a bit better than other nations, because at start up, they have an income of 2 pounds a year. In my excitement to invest and grow the great and glorious empire I do not realize that brand new investments of certain types MUST be accompanied by 1,000 recruits and I go notable negative on my recruits, and can't buy enough slaves to replace negative recruit quickly.

So this has been the income of a Portuguese Commoner over the last "5" years. With effort, a lot of effort, I have managed to get them back marginally over where they started the game...

Key takeaway: Don't go negative on recruits. If you go negative on recruits, don't stay there for months.

DEC 1700 1.60
DEC 1701 1.44
DEC 1702 1.39
DEC 1703 1.98
DEC 1704 2.17

On a more positive note, apparently England is now available in game 8. (among other sizeable positions I think) Jump in, the water's... fine.

Game 8 is fun, game 8 is cool. You know you want a position in game 8.

I suppose England has been avaliable for a few weeks in game 8.? The Count De Monet ( paul ) had it from the start. So i guess he packed it in, when he announced he was packing in his other positions.

Yes, he was frustrated by his economic results, a sentiment I can fully understand (particularly given the above!)
