I was looking around for other options and there didn't seem many that suited.

Alamaze is one, but not sure it is everybody's cup of tea.

I've only ever played games from Agema.
I didn't even know of the existence of other PBM companies - apart from Austerlitz, as it used to advertise in the toy soldier magazines - before I came on this forum and heard about them.

I don't play any other than Agema, because (like Deacon) I haven't found any that appealed.

I like strategic games and the technical developments and nation building of "Glory" (combined with its wargame elements) makes it the ideal game for me, I haven't come across any others similar enough to have a go.

Always fancied a early 20th C version (so you can 'invent' flying, Dreadnoughts, cars, etc without refighting WW1 straight away) but alas never found anyone doing anything like that

Hadn't realised this, a real shame...if only because I want to have a reality where I can take the Beardmore Shipyard up on their idea and have a proper aircraft carrier before 1914 Smile

Hand moderated deep games used to be a big thing, but all I've known are gone except Glory.

That's why I don't bat an eye at the extended turn payments. It is a fantastic genre of game, and I'm sad that there isn't still more of it.

yup that's why I wondered, even the PBM website that used to push out a newsletter has had nothing posted for a year and he has not done any more newsletters since his last big push to do more

Is the PBM magazine "Flagship" still going, that is the only magazine that I know of that did any PBM articles, if that has disappeared as well......

I know Richard had a few articles in there & a play test of LGDR as well

No, flagship has been dead since 2010 I think. There is another PBM zine published electronically that I've submitted to help push Glory, but they are quite erratic in publication. They've got an article from me on "your first glory turn" where I used the initial set up for Burma in game 8 (my wife played for a short while as burma before dropping).

Links to the magazine are in the other PBM games section.

I remember a PBM article a number of years ago in a toy soldier magazine - Wargames Illustrated, I believe - where the editor had taken part in a PBM wargame campaign set in the American Civil War. The game was very much focused on warfare, from what I remember, and the article focused on the events of three turns that the editor had played, just prior to the deadline time limit for the magazine.

That's the only time I've seen any coverage of paper wargames (PBMs) featured in toy soldier wargames magazines.

Although at a toy soldier wargames show in March, there was a game where a people could join in and control a 'paper-played' campaign, playing against the GM's opposing force. Photo's below

We should call for the guillotine for him.

Rumor has it that he's lurking in the shadows, though. I heard something about Issue #13. You know how rumors go, though.
