I have looked at this one and may give it a whirl this summer. I have purchased Total War's newest offering as well. I don't believe I will have a chance to mess with it until school is out and federal grants have been submitted. Sure is tempting!

Mount & Blade Empty Rev Vaughan

Greetings. I notice you said you may give up one of your England positions in LGDR, for another nation. If you decide to do this, let me know and i will probably give England a go. Nobody can play LGDR, without giving their home country a go, can they? I must admit, the Total war games, are my favorites, i love them all. However, the new one, i did not buy, because it seems all the reviews of the game seem bad. In two weeks time, i have a week off work, i am sure i will end up buying it then, and playing it non stop, as i usually do with new total war offerings, but all the comments i have read seem very dissapointing. I usually do not bother with reviews, but these are regular Total War gamers, and they all seem let down. Crying or Very sad

Understood... I don't pay much attention to those that write reveiws either. Indeed, I find that my tastes are quite different from what the critic might have. I still have not had a chance to look at the game though, and will likely not have the chance until summer comes. I am certain that I will have to purchase a better video card before I give it a go though.

I will be buying it shortly. Tell me, in your opinion is it as good as the other Total war offerings? I ask as many seem dissapointed. I always think the original is hard to improve on. However, i enjoyed all the total wars so far.

The original Shogun Total War was a masterpiece, I enjoyed the others up to Rome but can't get into the new ones for some reason.

Got to say that the updated version of Mount & Blade – Mount & Blade Warband – made some fairly subtle but excellent changes to the game. That version is the one to get. Really good mercenary commander/king simulation.

Add the 'Diplomacy mod' from the forums to it and it's a brilliant tactical game as well. I find it such great fun leading a charge from a top my war horse against poorly armed bandits while wielding an enormous b*stard sword.

The game is very strongly based on the old 8-bit Sid Mier game 'Pirates!', which I was a big fan of.

Finally, another series I was a massive fan of - the x-com squad-based tactical earth defence games by Julian Gallop finally have a worthy successor coming out. Really worth a look. Has been made by a fan of the series and he ploughs any money paid for the game into improved graphics etc.
