Just out of interest, how many pages do people's Turn Sheets come to? [Don't know what they're officially called, but the pages which list your characters/armies/towns etc.]

Got to wondering, last night, looking over my own nation's turn sheets [Rozwi #10] and realised that I'm only a small to medium sized playing position yet have x6 sides of A4 pages (not including the Treasury sheet, or Orders Militaire sheet [Postal Players Only]) listing all Rozwi's assets and characters, treaties and doctrines and improved localised maps.

I once played as Great Britain, and Russia, but not for long in either case and can't remember how many pages those playing positions ran to. Just wondered, out of interest, if anyone would care to enlighten me?

[I seem to remember, whilst playing Black Beard the Pirate that it was only x2 sides of A4 pages.]

A simple numerical anser - I can cope with that. June 1707 in Game 8, France's print-out came in at 32 sides (perhaps somewhat padded-out by my predecessor's habit of naming every individual until etc. at great length).

The UK in Game 8 is over 50 pages. I will have to look it up but by far it is the largest.

Game 10 I am running about 25 pages total and in Scramble for Empire it is sitting at around 15.

G10 Scotland is 5 pages though I'd say perhaps 1.5 pages of that is details of laws I've introduced and because some units I've created I've given quite a lot of detail for (4 lines for one unit).

G9 Kwantung is 9 pages but again a lot is 'extra' details

    G7 Russia was 39 pages

Curses! I was hoping to over-awe with 32, instead it's vice-versa. (Perhaps Richard should consider a how-many-pages table as well as Honour and Markets).

The problem for me is I am a printer... I have to print the turn and write all over it. It is a good thing that one of the largest industries in my area is forestry! I have to do something to keep the price of timber high so my pine plantations are worth cutting.

It is amazing how complex things become over time.

Extra pages is _not_ a bonus. I've had richard cut things over the years to try to reduce the size a bit. Richard can and will add some notation buried in your turn that if you don't catch will bite you, so you really should go through every page.

    He does this?!

I've had the impression of it, and took a separate note not to forget those stuffs, but i wasn't really sure it was part of the game or just "roleplaying".

Think the length of turn is tied up with a lot of things Obviously the size of the initial position is a major factor, then if you start naming every Regiment & Ship, giving them all Colonels & captains etc, you add a few pages, then you can send ambassadors around every position you ever get a letter from, add in trade missions in every named town/ city you can find on the map. If you want to send out spies as well....

Then you get onto the trade treaties & the 100 & 1 other things you can get a treaty for.
Length of time you play a game will certainly have a major input on turn reply length, so is the nature of the beast.

G2 as little Prussia I went from the initial 2 sheets up to 58 but that was over almost 35 game years.

To be fair, hispania is effectively two realms, portugal and spain.

I haven't named many units, but once you start building forces around the globe, sending out ambassadors, signing treaties, building fortresses and academies, and all that, the turn really balloons.

I will say that this is also why I really _really_ like getting the turn electronically. I can actually search the turn to find stuff rather than just paging through and looking.

I have four games going, two of them are secret SSHHHHHH!!!!!

    Game 7: 9 Pages
    Ottomans Game 8: 17 Pages
    Saxony Game 9: 11 Pages
    Game 10: 9 Pages

Now I have been playing the Ottomans the longest out of the lot, but I only have had 1 Saxon turn so far. So I expect Saxony to get even longer.

That's an extraordinarily useful reference! Wish I'd had it turn before last, when I tried to put some organisation into the heterogeneous mass of military left me by my predecessor (every unit named in detail, but no organisation whatsoever).

Thanks everyone. Very useful to see how large your positions have grown to. I get my game turns through the post, so I can't imagine how much postage stamps it would cost to send me 50+ pages & the newspaper.

Rozwi started as a single page of A4 (x1 side of paper), but it is growing... I'm not sure its a good thing, or not!

Yes, I check every single little piece of information on every page of my turn sheets, as, as Deacon says, there's sometimes small snippets of important information added to a character's or unit's description that can easily missed.
