I have active spies in various areas! However, whenever I order them to do something there is never any response from them! I only ask them to perform simple tasks - eg is there large army in Bruges?, please report - but nothing happens! What am I doing wrong? How can I get the best from my spies?

I am sure that Kingmaker will be of great help.....I recently asked a spy to try and let me know of any troop movements in a capital city, and he managed to successfully burgle the Ministry of the Army, without being detected and provided me with FULL enemy troop strengths and disposition....lovely !

Re: What use are spies?
The answer is probably, but then other players would not want the results used against them.
Ambushing a courier would be noticed but sneaking in and borrowing a few files might take longer for missing files to come to light. Personally I'd try another way and get someone to give you the information willingly. Then again they could be passing on false information!
The question is who to trust and then how you know you trust them.

Giving the spy a little cash to work with certainly helps!

Re: What use are spies?
I've found the best results to be when orders have been specific, eg is there a large army in Bruges. How do you define a large army. to one person it will mean 20 battalions, to another it will be 80 battalions. the order could be refrased as Please provide details of troop types and numbers at said location. I find spies useful and generally good value for money.
