NEW 7th edition The Glory of Kings core rules out now!

A long-awaited new 7th edition set of the core rules for The Glory of Kings 18th century PBM / PBEM have been published and are available as a pdf download or in printed form.

The new edition ties in various new rules which have been introduced over the last two editions, brings in a few new tweaks, and packages the whole thing in a much more user-friendly format full-colour which is both easy on the eye and easier to understand than the last edition.

There are also new treaty and conference rules!

The new rule book is really great.

Especially the treaty and conference rules are a good addition.

Only one question: Can we update old treaties to the new system? So for example if i signed an alliance with another player (or with an NPC) one year ago and we two want to be sure that if one of us drop out the treaty is still valid if a new player come in?

Hi Frank, the quick answer is 'no', the new system cannot be applied retrospectively but only to new treaties/

If players agree to do so they can always renew an existing treaty as a new one under the rules, but that requires the agreement of all signatories and cannot be done without their permission.

If you as game master control an NPC nation will you renew an exisitng treaty when i ask you ingame? Or can this only be done with active players?

You can ask an NPC nation to agree to such a new form of treaty.

I can also endorse the sale pitch of Richard. This is a very good step forward for the rules, it is easy to read and follow.

The treaty and conference rules look like they have the potential to be a very good addition to the game, but it does of course require both sides to formally recognise the treaty / agree to the conference.
