Post by J Flower Sun Apr 01, 2012 6:57 pm

If the Kaiser of the HRE isn't Catholic is it possaible to change the Imperial Oath to allow a non Catholic to take power?

If it is must it be put before the Imperial College of Electors or the whole Imperial Diet?

I can't, because I don't know. Happened before I joined the game, and I don't play a prince elector so wasn't privy to any of the debate/discussion. Maybe somebody else here was. I believe just the oath was changed and that was it.

I think it's really what the prince electors will sit for. There's no precedent, so whatever the powers that be decide is what is required.

My guess is that the bit about protecting the Catholic faith is the main stumblig block .

In Game 2 there is a Protestant Kaiser, but he is only technically Kaiser Elect as he has never been offically crowned. However the last Catholic Kaiser to be crowned by the Pope was in the 1500's I beleive. So technically all those in between were also only Kaiser Elect as well.
