Re: New Forum
Help.......I have not even read the rules yet and already my character needs a good lawyer and is getting semi threatening demands for money from a Guard commander with a thing about fire!
If anyone has on their starting pack "Statue believed to be antique and of the Roman War God Mars, provinance unknown and purchased off the back of a cart by your wife, son, steward, etc for a really bargain price" it may not be such a bargain unless you are really keen on finding out about the Roman Legal system and how it deals with stolen property.
You may even like to consider a out of court settlement before the bodies.....sorry I mean legal bills, start to mount up.

Plus its raining Troops are in a swamp Not to mention all those ginger haired Barbarians waiting in the woods....
Have a Navy as well, wonder how long that will stay afloat, maybe open a sweep stake on its chances of survival

Re: New Forum
...meanwhile in the free lands beyond the heel of Rome...we're tapping the sides of our heads saying "these Romans are crazy" before helping ourselves to more roast boar and another beer...

According to the Falco books:
- The Germans pinch the flag ship of the Rhine Fleet.
- One of your Legions disgraces itself by taking oath of loyalty to Germanic Empire.
- Oh and the Rhine legions get beat up in a civil with that lot from the Danube.
But look on the bright side..... the historic time line is slipping with the Huns starting to move early:D plus its nice and sunny in Spain. Now can someone pass me the latest market prices for Olive oil, form for the Chariot racing and the latest copy of the how to host a orgy handbook.

Oddly exactly the same two words had crossed by mind.
So how many of the sailors in the Rhine Fleet are those naughty Batavian's? Since they do have a bit of a reputation for being some of the best swimmers and fighters in a marine type setting.
But look on the bright side.... the Rhine Fleet is basically a glorified water taxi service and you have plenty of wood in Germany so if you do need to pop back to the west bank for any reason. Pick up a change of socks? Post letter to the Emperor to say well done on the new baby and why the revolt in Germany is absolutely nothing to do with you? Well I am fairly sure your Engineers can knock up a bridge in a month or so.
Its basically all in the manual under defence of bridgeheads and opposed river crossings and your troops should have built loads of practice bridges.
One small point if it does take longer than a month try and avoid crossing large rivers in winter/spring spate in the Ides of March. Its unlucky esp for units which have Augusta, Julii or Caesar in the title. Also sacred chicken are not good swimmers and do not like the wet so please carry out rites well away from water since if you drop one in the Rhine and it sinks this is not a good Omen.
Probably best to carry out such rites on a nice sunny, well paved Roman forum. They alway eat really well then.
