Discontinued...?

Maybe Richard can fill me in on this, but I remember two games:

1) World War One
I was playing Austria, fighting against the Italians on the Trentino front (if I remember correctly).

Whoever won the war?!

2) All I can remember is I played Sudvaal. It was based on the time period of the late Victorian era, and had fictional nations, in a way similar to Scramble.

* Had a thought on this: was it called "Gunboat Diplomacy"?

1. Richard sold the rights to another GM who has never used them and has since dissappeared off the radar? (correct Richard?)

2. Correct no longer available though I believe?

Yep, The Great War was sold off but the new owner went awol and never ran game so far as I know.

Gunboat Diplomacy could be viewed as a very early attempt at something like Scramble for Empire. SFE is much slicker but has similar basic ideas behind it!

I seem to remember it being quite fun. A bit more like LGDR than SFE seems to be? Had some nice ficticious maps too

I remember reading about gunboat diplomacy some years back. I had no idea that this was a game owned and run by Richard. You learn something each day!

Would it be possible to bring back The Great War??

Also played In a game of Great war it was fun to play.

No I think both are dead saddly as I would love to try both again...

I also played the Vendetta Game & the one in Ancient China (forgotten the Name) I think this one got sold off along with the player list. But I have never heard anything more about it.

I really liked Great War as well......esp the paper. But I would imagine that if its been sold their would be contractural problems with bringing it back. But perhaps a WW2 or a ACW version could avoid these problems?

Gunboat diplomacy has been replaced by a new slicker version in S for E. So what about doing the same for Crusade?

I enjoyed crusade and it was a shame when it folded......just as the Dukas faction were starting to get on a roll as well. However I think play did show up a few flaws and I suspect the starting the game with some Crusaders already in the Holy Land (but under pressure) and option to take your mission by land or Sea may work better as a game.............set period of 2nd Crusade?
