A Veritable Gold Mine Empty A Veritable Gold Mine

Dear all, another one-offish question. I believe it says in the rules somewhere that when setting up a Gold Mine you can opt for either bullion or an "income" effect. Does anyone know if it's possible to retroactively change your mind and switch from one to the other after set-up?

My understand is that it is not possible. You can abandon your existing investment and start over, but you can't switch.

(I wish I'd known this at the time!)

As far as I know you can't, but as I have never tried it I can't really give you a definitive answer. Plus I think gold bullion is recorded as part of your income at any rate.

Ah, thanks all - not the answer I wanted of course, but good to know. Kingmaker's comment was precisely why I wanted to switch. Piles of bullion in far-away hard-to-reach places are a pain. Possible ways round it anyone? Could I found a bank based on the bullion in situ and set up a branch closer to home and draw the profits from the bullion/banking there, perhaps? Would a Mint to provide coin to the colony in question be a financially viable use of the resource?

I am going to make a guess here.

If its G6, you can ask the Twin-Kingdoms to take control of the gold at California and be given the equivalent amount of gold held in reserves in Spain and/or Portugal. This service is offered while the T-K are able to fulfil requests.

One option would be definitely to set up a mint there, and mint the bullion.
