Then there's the catch-22, you can go for the easy pickings, and annoy one of the big naval powers, or you can try to pick on only the little guys, and not have as much opportunity.

I have another reason for why I may drop a Character.......

In G2 my Character has run out of blood feuds and prople he wants to Kill........this is actually quite a hard thing to do for an Ottoman but If the Peace Conference ends the current conflict with the French I am at a bit of a dead end.

Anyone need to be killed in G8?

Well Stuart...perhaps the Ottomans might like to follow the example of the kaiser and start a Scramble for Africa in G2...convert the ungodly to the Prophet? Wink

As to G8...not sure...someone wants the Dread Moghul to go about retaking all his lost lands...maybe he needs some help...or someone to oppose him?

The problem is that most of the suff you get your hands on as a pirate will not be hard cash but merchant goods of some sort and this will have to be sold. This will not work in a legal business since it would be difficult to explain your range of goods which of course is whatever your men just robbed. So, you will have to sell it on the black market but your trading ships need a reason for being in the area. The answer, a legitimate business front and a perhaps a bit of monetary incitement to the local law to not look to close.

Stuart, I am sure there is still someone in G2 for you to get your blood pressure rising. Sweden seems about to get a good kicking from England.Plus there seem to be a few unruley subjects left in your neck of the woods.

Also look at the African option, there is soon going to be a HRR venture inot the area, plus in India there are always options in Diu, sure you can pick a fight there as well. use the Suez to get things down there into a "more interesting" state.

maybe I can convince the Hungarians to send an assasin to your camp so you can have a go at them!

Is it possible to survive two famines in a row?

Poor G9 Saxony was crippled by a small final 4,000 ton shortage.

Shortage was so small due to swapping grain for potatoes and using the seed grain as food...............which is a good tactic provided your new potatoe harvest does not fail............now 2.4M tons short Sad Sad Sad )...........and Saxony is dead in the water.

Historically Augustus got wiped out by his foreign policy.........getting wiped out by failed potatoe harvest just seems to lack something!

I am sure if you contacted a big nation with a grain surplus they would sort you out. If you were in game 8 I would help you out.

    That sucks.

Fire off letters to everyone asking for help. Maybe someone out there can help you. Otherwise, you're kinda screwed.

His Sacred Majesty the Emperor in game 9 has been known to be generous to Reich members in the past including Saxony.

Pity Saxony is Protestant! But its Elector is a Catholic Very Happy .....does that count?

In older games in which some powers are swimming in grain fairly sure someone would help out if only to save storage costs and damage to their trade zones (in G7 for instance my Spainish position used part of its 80m ton surplus to help Rumelia avoid a famine/damage to the Levant Trade Zone dispite not being a great fan of the Ottoman Govt of Rumelia) but G9 is a much younger game and I dont think we have any huge surpluses of hardy grain.

Augustus the Strong is not exactly a lovable character and has been role played fairly true to life (Think I have been a bit light on the illegitimate Kids) and quite frankly quite a few powers may view him as a pain and be pleased to see the back of him.

On the other hand........while the Ottomans and Russians have not yet made a move west some people may be happier to with Augustus holding the gates.
