Anyone have anything to offer on the design of new firearms in any game. I have newly designed muskets in place, but wanted to know if anyone had anything to offer on their construction and design. Further, it is helpful to know how detailed the orders for this type of action should be.

Re: Infantry Weapons...
Well do a little research and then come up with what you would ideally like them to be able to do then conduct tests once they are ready, remember the finished article is never going to be 100% what you want.......

My method is to copy the actual, historical specifications of the musket, change it around to the needs of the Kalmar Union (for example the Piper MKII Flintlock Musket), and, then submit it (with pictures) to the arsenal (Richard). Then, I sit back & wait!!!
My biggest headache has been (and still is) to get the monarch from Spayne to answer his correspondance, let alone authorize Tuscany to send a mission to my arsenals to build a decent breechblock for a small caliber millitary rifle!!!
I'm in LGDR 2, does any other country besides Tuscany build breechblocks?

In LGDR 2? If so, your Illustrious Chancellor willl be soon receiving a request for a mission to teach the Kalmar Union gunsmiths how to make a breechblock for a breechloading rifle! I'll also need the SN # for Austria, Please!

Re: Infantry Weapons...
In essence... Everything that is made by man must contain a flaw because man himself is flawed. I have toyed with the idea of what to do with the weapon side of the equation. In the American Civil War, some years later, the Confederate forces were armed with a mixture of different calibers and such. It was impossible to supply and achieve any type of uniformity with this mess being used in just one company. Therefore, in the game I am not willing to make the same mistake and will attempt to ensure that my army is well prepared for anything they may arise.
I have the musket in Game II currently being issued to the army. The musket is in trials at the Royal Infantry Academy so that Officers and NCO's will know the strengths and weaknesses of the weapon. Any other suggestions?

Re: Infantry Weapons...
it needs field testing in a combat situation , loan some troops to a nation at war armed with the new musket and see how it fairs...

Re: Infantry Weapons...
If only I could find someone at war... I guess I will have to talk to Prussia in Game II.
