Its a bit prior to our period (though many ships which fought in the battle will still active in 1700) but I really enjoyed reading "The Four Days Battle of 1666" by Frank L Fox ISBN 978 - 1 - 84832 -044-4.

As per title a lot of the book is about the four day battle but its also covers the English, Dutch & French fleets which fought in the war & the other major actions of the second Anglo-Dutch War.

As well as covering the major problems of all three powers which players in Glory may view as food for thought the book is also very good on the origins & development of the Line of Battle Tactics and also on the role played by fireships.

Just bought these from a gaming chum who owns an online webstore. Ignore the Maharanis book, but the African one may have some useful background info for games.
I haven't read it yet, but it's now on the top of my book pile.

    Book bio:
Mungo Park (1771-1806) was a Scottish surgeon and explorer. Encouraged by Sir Joseph Banks, he was sent by the African Association, in 1795, to explore the interior of Africa, forbidden to western traders. He is believed to have been the first European to reach the River Niger. His return was delayed by imprisonment and illness, and he did not arrive back in Scotland until December 1797, having been thought dead. He later went on a second expedition to Africa, and died there in 1806. This account of his earlier travels, published in 1799, was an immediate best-seller, with three editions in the first year. Park presents a straightforward account of his journey, together with observations about daily life in West Africa, with none of the arrogant superiority so often expressed by European travellers. The book includes a vocabulary of Mandinka words, plates and maps, and a geographical appendix.

Just bought a couple of books from The Works that look interesting following the conversation around Military tactics in another thread.

    https://agema.darkbb.com/t909-question-concerning-tactics-in-wars-of-succession#14054

David, Saul All the King's Men - The British Redcoat in the era of sword and musket isbn 9780141027937 Author is a war studies professor and wanted to help redress the balance of a lot being made of the Royal Navy in British history and concentrates on the army 1660 - 1815.

Holmes, Richard Redcoat isbn 9780006531524 goes through the life of the British Soldier from the Seven Year War to the Crimea.

Would have waited to read to see if any good all the way through but the works only hold the stock till it's sold.
