Just a quicky, more knowledgeable folks - is it necessary, for maximum efficiency, to train 1,000 miners for every mine that's opened?

Deep-shaft mining requires trained miners, other mines will obviously benefit from trained miners as well but can be operated by any recruit.

You can simply make a Trade investment to mine a deposit that your Geologists have found. Historically I think this is a better reflection of mining in the period. Miners usually started off down the pits as lads & picked it up as they went along, Work experience really meant something in those days.

If however you decide to train miners then you can also train Engineers to help in mining operations, if you wish to even further improve mining output., plus using another College to look into mining improvements.

Thanks for that folks. The rules for mining profits do seem to rather cut across the rules for other trade investments (hence my confusion). There seems to be investment in the mines (inc training miners) and then investment in exporting ore (or whatever) through trade investment in a particular region. I think I'm getting the hang of it... Thanks again.

If you have a Gold or Silver deposit, it can also be mined as a trade investment, or you can request that it be put into your treasury as Bullion. You then get a once a year payment into your treasury. Where you can mint it into coin.
