Congratulations to Mr Freidrich von der Decken (I was going to title him as Herr, but then realised I wasn't sure of his nationality?)

I've just looked into renting a property, myself, in Hull (my character has, even). Maybe one day I'll get to be a home-owner in the game.

WhiteFriar Gate is a a posh bit of the old town of Hull any where near the docks was considered down market and dodgy as all the seamen lived near the docks and the more noisy Inns.

I think Colonel von der Decken could soon be living in interesting times.......

Still got the monkey business to sort out, plus the Tsar may want to take a holiday resort on the Crimean cost as a summer residence.

1. Offered promotion to Full Colonel in charge of a new regiment of heavy cav, equals to full Brigadier in ordinary regiments(it is a Guards regiment!)

3. Wife offered Lady in Waiting role with Tsarina!

After all the hard work that top germanic totty put in waiting on the Czar one assumes she does not want to be a widow (black probably does not suit her) so no Russian Naval Command but wants him to get an appointment which gets Hubby out of the way but at the same time allows her to stay at Court and close to dear Peterkins.

Maybe right, Czar had a word with the monks, they are not happy having a "heretic" guarding the Czar, will have to have a quiet word with them I think, which may involve the feather duster & the comfy cushion.

Think there needs to be some clarification of v.d Deckens rank seems from the papers he is a captian with a colonelcy of the Tsars Life Guards, which is a bit confusing, maybe should simply promote him to General & get him to start looking for some cheap gold lace to decorate his tunic.

Looks as if a couple of back orders crunched into place as well, seems Lady v.d Decken is waiting to be a lady in waiting to the Tsarina, even though she thought the waiting was over I guess we will have to wait to see if the wait was worth the wait so we can have a weight of our minds due to all the waiting, that is of corse if she has not tired of waiting to start waiting on the Tsarina , seems a long wait all round.

This is actually fairly historic as a rank in the Czars Lifeguard or Royal Guard formations in other countries was the equal of a much higher rank in the rest of the Army. Plus in the C18 many officiers served in many different services and had different ranks in different armies.

Also in the days when Regiments were basically the property of the Noble who raised them many Generals were also the Colonel of a Regiment at the same time. A shadow of this still exists in the British Army were many regiments have someone like the Queen or Prince Charles as their Col in Chief and day to day are run by a Lt Colonel.

Thus it seems to me that Von Decken holds the rank of Captain in the Prussian Army and Col of the Russian Lifeguard. With the Colonel of the Lifeguard being equal to a General in the Rest of the Russian Army.

Funny that I've just read this post, then popped over to TMP and saw an advert for this new book. They say there's no such thing as a coincidence! (I don't know who they are, however)

so I make the papers again!

Also my man servant is getting uppity, thinks I cannot get rid of him!

Estate in the country mortgaged to the hilt to pay of the wifes creditors........Von Decken seems to be becoming a proper noble!

But as the Czars champion and bodyguard what are you going to do about the Ottoman Grand Vizier calling your boss an infidel and a liar?
