Game VII
I am currently not involved in Game VII, but how much different from the other games is it? I was involved for a small period of time, but when I got the chance to take on England in one of the others I dropped it. To be honest, I have thought about the idea of taking it back up.

Re: Game VII
Well VII is moving on quckly, plenty of diplomatic activity, some good seasoned players not easily tricked/pushed around (darn it!). Politically the scene is getting set for some interesting moves. I can't say too much because i'm involved, but it's certainly the best one i've played for a while - i think i'm finally getting the hang of it, sort of although around every corner lurks a mishap...

Just found this, and am waiting on the dang State computer to take my alarm reports from today. Most fire departments can rescue the cat from a tree... How many do you know that save the kitty from a 35 foot well? Only here can you get that one.

lol
well ours rescue dogs from cliff faces all the time here on the caost. there is one spot where for some reason dogs keep charging thru the bushes to find there is no more cliff and end up on the ledge below!!
I blame the rabbits my self who have a burrow nearby and lure said dogs to their doom, bit like the sirens in ancient times....

Re: Game VII
I hold a position in Game 7 as well, so perhaps should be a little careful about the detail.
I think the major changes in rules to the other LGDR games will make campaigning 1) alot harder and 2) more realistic in this version, and we still await the first major outbreak of hostilities.
There is plenty of diplomacy going on, well there is for me anyway, which I think always makes the games more interesting. The key to game nejoyment is obviously your own position but if you dont have contact with other nations it can quickly feel very stale.
I recently dropped out of Game 5, having been in it from the beginning. One of the reasons was I became isolated in the diplomacy. I established a strong diplomatic link with several nations, but one by one they dropped out, leaving me on my own ! (yeah thats the self-pity bit). I found myself then, just a little isolated from everyone else, and creating new contact was tough as I had become somewhat of a marked man.
So no matter what the game, dont under-estimate the benefit and enjoyment writing those letters brings.

Re: Game VII
excellent we'll meet on some foreign field then...or maybe in some Royal court...either way the games are always so much better when here's a full compliment of players. So best of luck with whatever position you pick up!

Re: Game VII
I also am in game seven, and through trial and error am improving slowly. Having only dabbled in other games of LGDR I can't say how it compares, but there certainly is a lot of postal diplomacy, and aside from plotting to conquer the world , the diplomacy is the next best bitof the game.

Re: Game VII
haha !
Dont worry, letters will come. Just pick some neighbours, or countries in Europe (if you control a European nation) that appear to be doing well or in the thick of it....you'll soon get dragged into some plotting and mis-adventure
