I am in.
Just asked about game 9, and there are surprisingly few positions open in it.

Re: Game 10
I managed to grab a highly under estimated position in game 10, which can be great fun and it has so much potential too. I wonder how this game will pan out, the last ones everyone has tried to be very enlightened have we still got a Stuart ready to come to the fore.

I'm in as well. With one of the harder positions to steer right I think. Ottoman Anatolia.

Re: Game 10
I do think Ottoman Anatolia is tough to play. You dont have the European frontiers to have fun wars and you are trying to co-ordinate the Ottoman Empire - good luck.

I am a bit dubious about my position but it will be interesting. I am going to be coy for now since I don't know the lay of the land yet.

Re: Game 10
Been doing some research into my new chosen nation, having played Persia before in game 6 where I played the religious nut job. I thought I played it rather well personally, having a crazy band of religious fanatics supporting you makes for a great read but does nothing for your economy.

Haven't really played an Ottoman position before, had Basileus bugging me when I played as the Russians in game 8, of which I have not forgotten Basileus!

Sorry Mark, I just tried to be "Tatarish", if there is such a word. But if you are the Crimean Tatars you want to go slave raiding and pirating! There is not much else to do.

He can always go in for stealing sheep, horse breeding, raiders showing off there various riding skills at tornement. The dying valiantly when the Russians have a guts full of the annoying noisy neighbours & invade.

I was going to suggest horse breeding, meadow flow arranging, acting as a middle man flogging furs to the south and silks northwards.
Plus writing lots of letters to the Czar, Sultan, Grand Vizier, King of Poland etc putting the blame on the cossacks.

Re: Game 10
Hello,
I'm signed up to play Rozwi in game 10.
I've played European positions in the past, but found the huge amount of options those positions allowed to not suit my style of play. Or, to put it another way, I had too much freedom to lose myself in endless possibilities. So remembering my time spent as Blackbeard the Pirate, I've decided to tackle a position with less build options and requirements.
The only issue I had with playing the pirate was the lack of city building scope ... Well, that was until I ended up governing Jamaica for a time.
I've noted that others on here have mentioned a lack of in-game correspondence and newspaper articles from players; in the past these were two of the things which I did submit often, if not every turn. Though I don't know how I'd roleplay an African king (or his minister), who sends off lots of flowery letters all across the northern hemisphere. Maybe letters won't be a major feature of my game this time around.

But when I played Persia I did all of those things with the possible exception of the meadow flower's !!
Think that was replaced by a visit to Mecca and an Invasion of Indea to help prop up the Moghul Empire against the unbelievers.
In my defence I would like to point out it was only the one temple........and it was not even "Golden" and how was I too know that they would then assassinate the Great Moghul in revenge?
Pity LAK folded.........had it all under control.......honest

If you are role playing I would say your probably not going to talk to anyone but those that end up in your presence, so expect some crazy Europeans.
But I think a lot of players don't communicate through in game message or will only reply if it interests them, sometimes we forget to reply but I think if we actually talked through our ambassadors all the time the newspaper would be massive, hopefuly!
But perhaps a message from the Shah of Persia will make it through to you.

Re: Game 10
So, who's ready for the madness to begin? Also, do we start on september 1st exactly, or nah?
Personally I am fully ready to indulge in the stupid shenanigans I have planned, and to cause as many collars to become unruffled as possible!

Re: Game 10
Should be fun Always think that in a new game I've learnt from my mistakes in other games so won't repeat them...and come up with a whole load of new mistakes to make
No idea on the exact start date though, lets hope it's not too long into the month (whist at the same time not wanting to stress Richard out by making it sound like I'm pressuring them into getting the game started!)
