Seems that us lesser mortals in G2 are getting a couple of new players, The more the merrier.

Re: Question regarding game 2
I must admit to a degree of surprise at the new French player, basically going to war (ok, resuming a previous war) on their first turn. Not something I'd do, perhaps I'm just too cautious, so got to admire their bravery.

Re: Question regarding game 2
One of the problems of an NPC position going active, at least in this case,is that last few months had seen a little progress towards an agreement. Maybe means war will continue a little longer.

Four! I know, a little mad but
1) the advantage of insomnia
2) other than France, all are really small powers so low cost and don't require much time to do a turn...so its most probably not as crazy as it sounds

It's good to have other parts of the HRR in G2 active again, looking foward to you first letter.
After G7, It'll probably be nice to have a relaxing break in G2

Oh it is, there is sanity in G2 even when everyone is at war, or about to be, it seems

Re: Question regarding game 2
On G2, I found the offer by the Dutch to Flanders interest. I thought that Flanders in-game was 'neutral' so I suppose unity would mean that would no longer be the case?

Yep.......in G2 unlike G7 we actually know who is fighting who and why. And the why tends to be political not personal.
As a rule of thumb for new players like Jason in G2:
1) The Holy Roman Emperor (A Prussian who sometimes refers to the Papal Anti Christ but basically a nice guy)is trying to unite the German States of the Holy Roman Empire into a single state for all Germans. His followers say this is good because only he has the wisdom, diplomatic skill and military mmight to save the HRE from the French and the Ottomans.
2) The above is generally opposed by the Swedes, French and Catholic Bishoprics like L-C because the its ripping up the T of W and the French & the Bishops dont want a German State dominated by Protestant Prussians. They also say that the Empire would not need the diplomatic skills and good relations of the Emperor ref the Ottomans if he had not helped the current Ottoman Sultan destroy the Austrian Empire, Venice, Knights of Saint John and beat the day lights out of France, Poland, Spain, L-C, Poland and Ottoman Rebels and any other force who has got in his way.
3) The Ottoman Sultan (A Rumalian Sunni married to a Othodox Christain......generally good Guy but prone to acts of extreme violence if upset). Old ally of Emperor generally gets on well with Protestants and Orthodox hates Catholics, Shia and the Janissary Corp.
4) England.......generally follows simple policy of finding out what the French/Bourbons think and joining the other side. After running out of Monarch's it now shares a Royal Family with Hanover which could really complicate the Emperors long term plans but so far its been fudged and its all jolly Protestants united against the ghastly frogs.
5) Russia........generally pro Prussian and anti Swedish as it wants to diminate the North. Has also expanded to the Black Sea by purchase and diplomcy.
6) Spain .......the 2nd Bourbon power but oddly relations between French and Spanish governments have rarely been close or good. The exception was when the French convinced Philip of Spain to abandon his friendly realations with the Ottomans and his favourite hobby of trying to annex the Portugese Empire (a ambition opposed by both France & England.....only thing they ever agreed on). It was a disaster and the Spanish still blame the French for the loss of Milan.

I know everyone has the right to play how they want but I always find it unsatisfactory when a new player plays things a 100% different to what his Character/nation did before. While I am sure you will develop your own path any new Holy Roman Empire Player in G2 is quite fortunate in having very valid reasons to either :
1) Consider the HRE a "Hero" and the saviour of Germany.
2) A vile traitor to true religion who has ripped up the constitution of the Empire and is out to crush the rights of free Princes & Cities under the Prussian Jackboot.
3) Sit in the Reichstag pleading with two sets of extremists to show some mercy for the motherland and avoid the 30 years war parte two.
You will probably enjoy speaking to both sides and may prefer the "real" issues being explored in G2 to the propaganda war of G7. Ok the issue of German unification may seem a bit 1870 rather than 1730's but instead of Austria being knocked out in 1866 the what if is a bit along the lines of what would have happened if Prinz Eugine had been killed and the Austrians had been lead by a really bad commander while someone like Nadier Shah had been born Ottoman rather than Persian.

Re: Question regarding game 2
As I am sure you'll guess, I'll not do diplomacy via Forum but it is fair to say as part of my setup Richard sent me a range of NPC (I assume) letters and contacts with other nations to help give me a feel on what my nation has been up to, so as to guide me.
However if you'd like to do a Baltic summary as well that might be interesting as I am a bit confused...it's almost as if as well as fighting Prussia, Sweden has been fighting a civil war with Denmark (I assume some sort of Kalmar Union existed and collapsed?)

Re: Question regarding game 2
In the Baltic:-
The Kalmar Union has been broken, Denmark is split into at least two factions. Those who want independence from Sweden & those who don't. Sweden is trying to get Princess Anne crowned as Queen of Denmark, as it claims she is the only legitimate ruler left, more background is currently being sought about the claim.
Russia is upset by the underhand way Russia has acted in recent years, and has attack Swedens Baltic State possessions.
England & Prussia are a teeny weeny bit upset with Sweden as Sweden was given support by both only to turn around & declare war on them.
Stuarts summary of the rest of Europe is fairly accurate, he did forget to mention Hungary, who was looking to recreate the dual monarcy in Habsburg lands but now seems to have lost interest, since the Ottoman Sultan threatened to cut his ears off if he did.
I guess you will be able to gather more & varied info once the ball starts rolling in Game for you.
One advantage of G2 is that the positions are not split into factions so you don't need to look over your shoulder to see what the other people on your "team" are upto. This has probably more to do wiht the length of time the game has been running than the initial set up as most of the dual positions have fallen by hte wayside.

Thanks Jason, between you and Stuart, that feels a good summary
