Wait till the weather gets better, both members of the yacht club suffer from seacickness, so they need calm water

Re: Question regarding game 2
Hmm, not the greatest of turns for Hanover! A recruiting party wiped out by nasty natives, imperial princes not too keen on my ideas...oh well...back to the drawing board...

Re: Question regarding game 2
Look on the bright side.....Hungary has seen much worse times. Having at various times been a battleground for the Austrians, Warsaw Pact & the Ottomans.
When you have 50,000 Ottoman Light Horse retreating across Hungary using scorched earth tactics is when you know you have real problems.

I would be doubly concerned there and wonder what force they were retreating in the face of. But who would honestly want to hurt little old Hungary?

Re: Question regarding game 2
Looks like the Natives in Africa may need to be taught a thing or two, can't have them killing God fearing Germans, thats just not on.
Do we ahve a new player in UDP they seem to have thrown in their lot with England.
Lucky there is no Geneva Convention agreement, or the Prussians would be in trouble with there bombarding methods in Strassburg. Plus is it the first time rockets have been fired in anger in Germany?
Seems the weather has kept all the navies at home, apart from a pleasure cruise by the Prussian yacht club around the Norwegian fjords.
Credit where Credit is due the Russians really know how to party, impressive coronation of the new Tsar.

Re: Question regarding game 2
Anyone know what is happening now in hte West Indies?
Do we have a French Naval Mutiny that has been triggered by the virtual bankrupcy of Paris.
Or do we have a Freelance Do or Die Pirate on the loose.
If it is a Pirate then his timing is exellent as the Maritime nations that would usually deal with such inconveniences to trade are currently taking part in a naval Regatta off the French coast at Brest.

Re: Question regarding game 2
Nothing in the paper to suggest what is going on in the West Indies...in fact other than the French fleet at Kingston sailing away, nothing has happened in the Indies...
The war does seem to have gone a bit quiet, I guess its due to all those new year hangovers...the Prussians seem to have realised its best to just bombard Strassburg for now whilst their yacht club has wisely undertaken a retrograde maneuver at Brest.
In North America the natives are restless...

Re: Question regarding game 2
Quite a quiet month in GOK game 2, apart from the French and Prussians once more having at eachother. Europe it seems may be calming down, or is it. Is it the calm before the storm. Seeing as its only Janurary lots more to happen. What is the French main aim, is it to defeat and destroy the Prussian HRE? Is it to force Prussia into unfavourable talks? The sleepy Russians seem to have finally awoken, and the swedes could have a good time up there. With the Spanish going to see the Pope can we expect some high flown rhetoric coming from Rome and all the while the Ottomans sit quietly on the borders of Europe watching.

Re: Question regarding game 2
Before anyone says anything the Prussian navy has made a tactical withdraw, to lure the French away from the safety of there own shores, the yellow streaks in hte water are due to a cheap paint job on the hulls of there ships.
Berlin views on he Pope have been voiced on a number of occassions, I think Stuart can sum them up better than me, as he has a way with words.
If anyone knows what France wants it is one of the best kept secrets of the modern age.

Re: Question regarding game 2
Ha ha, yeah Stuarts assessments are generally very good, I know the pope in the past has spoken against the Prussian HRE and vice versa. Personally I wonder how long it will be before the pope decides having a protestant as the head of the HRE is just too much to bear. Or maybe I should just be quiet before I give Richard ideas.

Been there done that, the Kaserin has had to hide the matches so that Rome dosen't get burned to the ground. Will keep opinions on in Game Pope to myself views may cause offence.

Re: Question regarding game 2
Based on in game reports:
1) The Holy Roman Emperor views on the Papacy & the Pope is that the "Roman Anti Christ should keep out of German Affairs which are non of his Business" & that the defeat of the German Emperor's like Frederick II by the Papacy its French Allies and Germanic Traitors & Papal lapdogs was a disaster which the Holy Roman Empire has never really recovered from.
2) The Pope views the Emperor was as "The Heretic Anti Christ" ......an evil secularist in the mould of the Emperor Frederick II who probably plotted with the Ottomans to destroy the Catholic states of Austria, Venice & Malta. Kill a King of Poland, a Doge of Genoa and burn down most of France.
This after all is a man who responded to a joint Papal-French-LC demand the the Empire join's the war of the "Christain Alliance V The Ottomans" by pointing out he had a mutual defence pact with Rumelia but if they thought he should class Crete (attacked by Portugese & French troops) as part of Rumelia and honour his pact he was happy to do so! Also could they please call their alliance Catholic or Papist since it included no Protestants or Orthodox Christains who were mostly fighting on the other side.
To add insult to injury after watching Iskander Kruppa fight the Alliance to a bloody stand still the Emperor then proceeded to "liberate" Vienna, Milan etc from the Ottomans by Diplomatic means.
Opinion in Rome is still split over what was worse Frederick II getting back Jeruselem while excommunicated or the Heretic Emperor turning back Clan Kruppa by getting his Brother to marry one of them.
3) As for relations between the Sultan & the Pope........well the Pope attempted to have the Sultans daughter murdered. The Pope also betrayed the King of Spain, then when he realized his error betrayed the Sultan when he was merely the Leyerbey of Rumelia. (The Pope is very underhand but the words too clever for own good may apply)
An enraged Leyerbey destroyed a Papal Army & turned large parts of the Papal States into a "Roman Candle" but Rome remained untouch for three main reasons:
A) The French objected....even saying they would rip up their treaty with the Ottomans to save Rome & the Pope.
B) The Emperor was concerned about Catholic Opinion in the HRE if his ally hung the Pope from the roof of St Peters
C) The Leyerbey was stabbed in the back by the Jannissary Corp.
One wonders if the Sultan returns to his blood feud how many of the above are still valid? No doubt the Emperor would still object most strongly but exactly how long does it take for a 80 year old messenger with piles and a bad back to get from Berlin to the Ottomans

Re: Question regarding game 2
Thanks for that clearing up of the situation Stuart, although I would like to point out it was only the one Pope the Kaiiser threatened to burn, the rest he has simply ignored as they are not worth his time to bother about.
I don't think the Kaiser would mind a return ot the blood feud you have mentioned in many respects it has never gone away.
Could be time for a revenge of the Carrot Crunchers

Re: Question regarding game 2
Stuart have you slipped any of your Janissary POWs into Strassburg? Seems the defenders have the same kind of staying power as you came across in your campaign.
