The situation regarding the recruits between spain and hanover, has been sorted,as reported by hanover in the newspaper. Proof was sent via a letter from spain to hanover in game. The matter is now closed. Hanover and spain are friends and both happy with the outcome.

The disagreement between prussia and Austria is interesting. The prussian player seems to be on a collision cause with anyone and everyone. At one point he was making threatning gestures towards spain.Given the size of prussia in relation to spain and austria, his actions are crazy and stupid.

I can only think, that he is an inexperianced player, playing his first game of lgdr.

This affair is interesting me in what you are not saying. I feel from your undercurrent that you have settled with Hanover but you havent settled with prussia? Am I wrong? What could Pruassia have said , that wasnt broadcast in the newsletter that could make you think such a threat existed. practically I cannot see how Prussia could physically assault you. Am I missing something here. Who else has he threatened or caused you to think that prussia is coming up against? This is all very intriguing this insight. It had obviously eludedd me from the published matter....do tell

I think this discussion is in danger of "crossing the line" - Richard recently intervened in the forum on that basis. Best if you want to understand players intentions to write to them.

As I am a bystander I merely expressed my interest. If this is too much then I shall just stay intrigued as I cannot write to said player.

im certainly not suggesting otherwise, and the rules of the forum have been a little vague until now. but i think by answering the question so much information would be given away that non-forum participants would be disadvantaged.

I wonder if the long gap between turns becomes self-fulfilling? Despite my best efforts, I keep thinking up things I really need to do this turn, and it just keeps getting longer and longer.

I'm glad I have a good paying job! cheers

Same here. The more you look at a turn, the more you can find too do.The bigger position you play and the more recruits you get.The more you can do.Turn costs can easily run away from you.

When i have done enough on my turn. I put it in an envelope, seal it up.All ready to post,a few days before the deadline. That way i spend less.

perhaps richard needs an assistant, but who would have all that knowledge? he could set up a new game 9 with a new apprentice DM as a test and ask us all to be easy on them! I would vote for Kingmaker!

I think he needs an(other) assistant now. We're running slower than real time Laughing Hopefully it will pick up pace. All we need is a few early casualties....

Surprised to see a new player for Russia. (yes, the turn arrived). Given the early agreements with the Ottomans I thought they were going to stick around. Guessing real life took its toll.

    I wondered the same thing...

Got to be honest, knowing the turns come in early in the morning does make me get up slightly earlier on a Friday Wink

It was the length of time between turns I'm afraid - it took the fun of the game away sadly. Likewise I decided to leave G6 and G7 for the same reasons.

I've opted to give Scramble For Empire a go to see if turn around is any quicker, and would likely come back to LGDR is turns every return to the 7-14 days turn around of the 'olden days'.

The funny thing is that because turns were taking so long in the end, I've not suffered the cold-turkey effects of leaving the game that I otherwise would have. Shocked

The recent 6 week turnaround is of course a problem but understandable.
But 1-2 weeks is to fast again, about 3 weeks is the sweet spot for me I think.

2-3 weeks would work for me. Does anybody know if it is likely to get better?

It is hard to get excited about planning turns when with this turn-around time it will be 5-8 years real time before you really get there!

New turn has shown a very interesting letter from Spain to prussia. Now I see why Prussia might have the hump with Spain! But what happened to prussias letter to Austria. Something seems to have gone amiss if one reads the script correctly?? censorship by the editor?

With the slightly longer turn arounds I felt less guilty about playing in more than one game because I used this as self justification to myself that it was alright because a few games with slower turn around was the same as one game with a fast turnaround. Whereas in the past, rather than playing more than one game I thought that money should be spent on the wife/kids/mortgage/food - so I would then drop a game when the real world came financially crashing in as it repeatedly does - something about the inevitability of the instability of capitalism - but perhaps thats a different topic? Smile
This means that I can now play in game 7 and 8 and Scramble without a guilty conscience. But this is not an arguement for long turnaround, just a view that there is a positive side to it.
Back on topic - I dont get the Prussia/Austria/Spain thing, can anyone explain?

I have a good understanding with the Spanish player, so I am sure he will take my comments and the publication of his letter in good humour, but I have to say I am loving the blunt Spanish attitude. Its a side to him, I am glad to say, I havent seen before.

And, sitting on the fence, I am not anti-Prussian either
