Please don't worry about offence..... we're grown ups pretending to be 18th century monarchs, I think we should be well past the point of taking ourselves too serious!! 😁

I see them as the 'spitting image' style satirical view on things and should be take light heartedly, save the hate for in game 😍

The longer the write ups the better in my book, I realise that is likely selfish, but I love them. Not only that but I understand what's going on more by reading them than actually trying to read in to the newspapers hidden info !!!

Cheers SteelCityTyke, that's my view too Very Happy

At Uni I was part of the Arthurian Society that involved grown ups pretending to be Arthurian characters and walking through Cardiff in costume, not sure I've grown up much more since lol!

    Mr Bombast;

Please keep your summaries going I think the majority of us enjoy them, If they cause offence then people can write a counter in their own words, as Steel City Tyke quite rightly pointed out we are all old enough & defiantly ugly enough to look after ourselves.

The real world is a serious enough place, I guess we all look to play these games as a way to escape & yes actually enjoy ourselves.

The African & Far East positions are certainly worthy of a mention in any write up. There is I feel a Ruddy lot of research being carried out by players of those positions as they seem to be bringing their Positions to life in new & interesting ways. Japan is a good example. Has it actually been played before in other games. It isolationist history I guess has in the past made it an unattractive proposition.

As a fellow Russian player, it remains a worry that you are just pushing your luck with the Russian Navy, all well & good having a Navy but don't do anything silly as it may shrink if it gets into contact with water.

Wow! This month’s write-ups have certainly generated a lively discussion, and add so much to the enjoyment of the game, so long may they continue. I’m sure every player looks forward to the write-up. And if anyone disagrees with an opinion or player “fact”, there is ample opportunity to reply.

Thanks to Stuart for his comprehensive reply to my queries, and I feel J Flower’s pain at reliving game 2 lol. What with in-game letters, kids, rabbits, work and watching Newport County on line every weekend, plus a Sunday hike, I never have as much time as I would like to participate on the forum.

Yes, given the ease with which the Royal Treasury was moved from the Palace of Versailles to the town, suggests not too many bags of gold coins Sad , but the real goldmine will be the information it contains on income, taxation and trade etc. You would expect some tax collectors to withhold some or all of their payments to the state, if there is now no record of them as tax collectors, or what was previously deposited!

A paradox, can you setup a new Treasury if you haven’t gone one in the first place to pay for it?

As the future father-in-law I have every confidence in the Russian navy lol

Ah, now I see a slight problem here the Mighty Maritime Nation of Austria has every faith in the Russian navy. Just writing the sentence gives me a sinking feeling.

Newport county is that a football team?

Yes, Newport County is a football team, English League Two (4th tier). Bought our season tickets even though we can't go to the ground, which allows us to watch online instead. Not the same without a crowd shouting!

About 5 years ago went to Jena in Germany to watch Karl Zeiss Jena play, great trip lol

Oh Hapsburg, what have you done, you have just inflicted the "Watts sinking sickness" (WSS)curse on the Russian Navvy in this Game. In G7 the Russian Admiralty held a special celebration to mark a whole year of not loosing a ship, the following month a freak storm struck St Petersburg sinking all the Russian naval assets in the port.

What are the odds of French Naval Mines being total waste of gunpowder in all other circumstances but some how being able to drift all the way from Baltic to Adriatic and be hit by a Russian ship?

Or Russian ships being sunk in freak gunpowder handling accident and Corsairs getting the blame even if nearest mine half a sea away? Suspect

Interesting that G10 has seen probably the most active participation of Princes of the Holy roman Empire. It seems internal squabbling that is often a normal state of affairs have been put aside.
Certainly makes for an interesting development within the game environment. Although I can imagine it is a bit of a Nightmare for the Kaiser to coordinate all the various contingents.

The Fate of Archduke Karl von Hapsburg, seems to have been totally side lined is the poor chap now in Paris in the Bastille? Seems strange that there are reports of his movement basically towards a point where he stands a chance of being rescued.

Savoy, seems to be making a fuss about wanting to get his title back, Not only was he Excommunicated, that automatically triggers the Imperial Bann as well. The fact that he attacked his liege Lord the Kaiser is probably enough for the Imperial Bann anyway. So if he wants his title back, donning the sack cloth & walking to Vienna may possibly be a good start.

I can think of a reason to move the Archduke Karl from Hapsburg from Savoy to Paris - Best Pox Doctors in the world in Paris!

But it does raise a bit of a question about who Rome and Vienna will consider as the King of Spain if Karl dies of the pox he caught in Rome or in the cross fire when the Swedes attempt to storm Paris? King Rodders the generally accepted King to judge from the number of treaties he seems to have signed and the butterfly lovers hanging round his court. Or the Duc of Anjou the other legitimate heir and lover of the young Miss Forbin.

Is this why Prince Eugine has just riden across half of France with a fairly small Escort? To ask the Swedes to hold off any attack untill Karl has finished his pox treatment? Or does Prince Eugine fear that in anarchy of Swedes attacking Paris the Archduke will be found face down in the Paris mud with a dagger in the Kidneys and a black spot in his hand? Suspect

Seems That Game 10 is entering into a new Phase, could it possibly be that the French Armies are suddenly going ot spring their cunning trap, they have drawn their opponents deep into the heart of France & are now ready to spring the trap & smash the foe-well possibly ,maybe.
Will the French Navy take a leaf out of the Corsairs book & actually get out of port? It seems the Russian Navy has more Ships on the High Seas than the French , how long will such an embarrassment go unanswered.

Where is Karl von Hapsburg, Savoy had him, did he get lost in transit to Paris, travelling through war zones seems to be a habit of his.

Not sure about the Russian navy in G10 being the exception but looks like the Navy of Rossia in scrabble might be.

Never got close enough to use its new fangled torpedoes and its even newer submarines are still sunk but with old old fashioned Naval gunfire it has just defeated the Turks 10-0.

Perhaps its the change of name? And Glori players should go in for a spot of re-branding.

Turn reply date was during half term and earlier than I expected it to be, so hopefully sometime this week.

From other thread G7 dropped recently so shouldn't be too long for G10.

When I sent in my last SFE turn , it was a bit late & I wrote to Richard to say sorry for the bad timing. He wrote back that processing was running a little behind schedule at the moment.

Still Hopefully ten will arrive at some point this week.

I always felt that when Rome got up and running it was a game too far. Turn times are now very long. There comes a time when you wonder if the times are too long. One turn in nearly two months is horrific. I currently play in three games but am thinking about dropping one or two of them.
