Re: Game 8
Certainly pbem is food for thought at this time of year, though I can't complain for in 12 years my colleagues at Royal Mail have only ever lost one turn though that was last Christmas!

Re: Game 8
The turn did arrive here in Norway yesterday, but I suppose all the snow is causing some delays in the UK.

Re: Game 8
Must say, i prefer to recieve turns through the post still. We always have plenty of time to get our turns sorted and posted. We have over three weeks left still, to sort out game eight turn.Never had any problems with the post.Overseas players always use the post, so if there were postal strikes Richard may well suspend the games. Or give alot more time to submit the turn. He told me he would do this, when the last postal strikes surfaced. This is why i continue to have them posted. No great reason not too.If you play by email, you only recieve the turn a day earlier anyway.

Re: Game 8
having scoured the papers for Royal tittle tattle, finding plenty, what has become of the sick Carlos?
As for the posts dwelling upon the actions of the Sultan...one can never presume to know the mind of an absolute and reclusive ruler...it's almost as if his decisions, arrayed in front of him, are selected at random, just ask his closest advisor, Georgiou Cokcrofiglu...
I liken the Empire to a three-legged race with many more participants. Legs tied together, the starting gun fires, the participants lurch forward, a flailing of limbs, shouts of command and hoots of laughter...chaos in motion...at the start...

Re: Game 8
I prefer email over post because I have ready electronic searchable archives.
I keep them online (google mail!) and can search/read them from work or home.
Not, of course, that I would ever waste quality work time on PBM games.

Re: Game 8
Panic over with the turn arriving this morning. I could have walked to Nottingham and back in the time it's taken. Kingmaker Many, many thanks for the copy of the paper. Greatly appreciated.
I'm with 007 in preferring postal turns, being much happier shuffling through piles of paper than working off a screen. Let.s get to work...

Re: Game 8
In answer too a question from the little corpral."What has happened to Carlos". I can confirm that King Carlos of Spain, is still alive. However, he is very sick and cannot run the country. Which is currently run by Bishop Portocarrero. On the death of King Carlos, a new King will be appointed.Either from the house of Bourbon, or Hapsburg. I believe the Hapsburg claiment will be visiting Spain shortly.

Spain is fortunate, that it already has alot of close military friends. Things are looking good for game eight.

Re: Game 8
King Carlos will certainly not feel better, his situation is terminal. It is a question of when, not if. Which nation are you in game eight? an invitation too the funeral could arrive?

Yes. Very interesting.
What are peoples thoughts?
What do we think (or want) will happen?

Haha. I think war will come all too soon, but I'd prefer a peaceful G8.

The unity amongst the Ottomans must be a worry amongst the Catholics. Who knows though, maybe no religious wars this game?
The East is a lot busier than usual too.
