9 day turnaround on Regime Change, so I'd expect it in the next several days.
Hopefully we'll get to see the first iteration of the turn's economic report.

Still waiting on Scramble for Empire and it was turned in some two weeks ago. Richard has lots going on, but it is worth the wait when it gets here. Just have to be careful not to go into detox!

Re: Game 8
So I have just about finished my first turn orders gone through my plans and tried to establish a rough timeline that I hope to have them completed by, written my letters and established my cabinet. Some very ambitious plans going through, it will be really interesting to see if I can fulfil them.

Or the sweet hope of innocence? (Though perhaps not, in this case.)
Merry Christmas everyone, and may all your new years see France ascendant.

This is not my first barbeque! ha ha! Especially not playing with you lot I have learnt to expect the unexpected, funnily enough that's what my driving instructor tried to teach me, still to this day I wonder how I passed that test.

Re: Game 8
Okay, I've realised that I made a tactical error when I "outed" myself as France in this game. It means I can no longer ask "innocent" questions about either game mechanics in general, or politics in 8! I should have kept on with the mystification... but it's too late now, no going back. So instead I'm going in the opposite direction, and trusting to my fellow-players ability to separate their game-character from their presence on this board, in some hopes of making this thread more active and less guarded. So here goes...
When I took over France I found it had apparently been moribund for some game-years. Recruits and finances had piled-up, and infrastructure had collapsed. The previous incumbent (who I doubt is playing elsewhere in Agema) had a rather... distinctive... approach to development (but don't we all?). A certain amount of research had been successfully undertaken (albeit not always in the most obvious places), and there had been a military build-up, with every single unit (battalion, ship) individually named, in French (sometimes quite long-windedly - a real pain to move around/adjust). Some Ambassadors had been appointed, but (as I gathered from this thread) no letters had been sent out to any other powers, not even in reply to friendly overtures. In slightly over a game year (with a lot of real-world investment) I've built the position up from a 4 in both Honour and Economy to 36 and 9 respectively and have been an open door for all communications, meanwhile madly researching what I consider to be my main priorities and putting some self-supporting structure into the economy. I'm quite enjoying playing Louis in his later, more sober and more pious, years; a contrast to the France I had been playing before (in 6) where I was King Phillipe (having ousted my brother in a coup, when I took over that folded position). I do miss what my predecessor in Game 6 had done for France's development before I took over, though, in stark contrast to 8. (If you played France in 6 and dropped before that game itself collapsed, my congratulations - although not sure why you put so much effort into developing hard-to-reach colonies on the west coast of America, not even with all the bullion to be had.)

Re: Game 8
We all knew that France was in play because players who tried to pick it up couldn't, but letters to France went unanswered. Nothing at all in the paper. It did leave a big hole in the game, so am glad the position is back in play in a public way.
As was noted a month or two ago, my EH has been max or near max for years now, and I think that's more an attribute of the game than brilliance on my part. Everybody seems to be doing well. I wonder when the crash will come. This fantastic economy is going to have to cool eventually.
And as I sit on top of the Honour rolls at the moment, I'll let the world know that is 51 at the moment.

Well, the only reason we play this (any) game is to make for interest. But we do get especial pleasure from teasing the roast-beefs!

I can't work out how many game-years the position had been moribund, quite a few I think - but I guess because of the non-communicative style my predessor set (no messages, no press) no-one realised it had gone quite dead. Eerie!
Wouldn't say the French economy was "brilliant" (not by comparison with some of the things I've read on this thread), but it is at least now "satisfactory" (and I hope will eventually catch-up with the rest of you).
Honour - I couldn't have the Sun King so low on the board, it didn't seem right. So I've been doing a lot of palace and church building (as nothing of the kind had happened before, even Versailles was quite bare - compared with what I inherited in Game 6), to try to get what feels a more realistic framework for the country. Ditto the creation of Personalities. When I took over there were just a couple of naval Captains named (note - not Admirals!) and one mis-attributed relation of Louis (not sure where he came from, whether he is in fact a Spy that someone set up), plus one that looked to be an abandoned Swashbuckler. No "advisers"! So I've re-created the whole extended Royal Family, plus assorted functionaries and politicians. At least I had a free hand to do that (and have enjoyed doing it). May not ever get to the top of the honour-roll, but that's not an objective - just to be high enough for now...

Hmm... Well, "fun" is definitely top of the agenda. As to fairness... isn't there a (Scots?) proverb that says "Fair words butter no parsnips"? (Whatever that might mean.) There's certainly a French motto, "All's fair in love and war."
